Domestic equity benchmarks started Tuesday’s session on a strong note amid buying interest in IT stocks. Asian Paints was the top Nifty50 gainer in early deals, up 1.55 per cent. HDFC, Britannia, Tech Mahindra and Adani Ports were among other blue-chip top performers. On the other hand, Grasim was the top laggard, down 1.69 per cent. JSW Steel, ONGC, Shree Cements and UPL were among other losers.

Fundamental support to the bulls has been coming from good corporate results. Now the macros are turning very positive with the declining fiscal deficit, rising tax collections, and the excellent performance in exports which shot up by 48 per cent in July. The PMI at 55.3 indicates a potential sharp turnaround in economic activity.

SGX Nifty signals a flat start
Nifty futures on Singapore Exchange traded 10.5 points, or 0.07 per cent, lower at 15,900.50, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for a flat start on Tuesday.
Tech View: Decisive close above 15,900 key for Nifty50
Nifty50 on Monday saw a gap-up opening, but could not add much to it, as the index faced the hurdle at 15,900 intraday. The NSE barometer eventually ended up forming a ‘Hanging Man’ candle on the daily chart. Analysts said the index needs to hold above the 15,800-834 range to maintain the positive bias. A decisive close above the 15,900 level is a prerequisite for any gain towards the 16,200-300 level, they said.
Hong Kong shares start with gains
Hong Kong stocks opened slightly higher Tuesday morning, extending the previous day’s advance, though traders continued to monitor China after authorities tightened their grip on a range of industries including tech and private tuition. The Hang Seng Index ticked up 0.20 percent, or 53.26 points, to 26,289.06. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.51 percent, or 17.50 points, to 3,446.78.
