WGAL News 8 Storm Team forecast

LORI: A LOT OF PEOPLE WAKING UP TODAY, WONDERING WHAT THE STORY IS WITH THE STORM. CHRISTINE: VERY FEW CHANGES. THE WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10:00 TODAY UNTIL 7:00 TOMORROW. THAT IS WHEN THE SNOW WILL BE TAPERING OFF, RIGHT AROUND SUNRISE. SNOW DEVELOPING THIS MORNING BETWEEN 10:00 IN OUR SOUTHWESTERN COUNTIES UNTIL ABOUT 1:00 P.M., NORTHEAST. LEBANON COUNTY WILL SEE IT LATER THAN FRANKLIN COUNTY. IN THE AFTERNOON, LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW FALLING. IT BECOMES HEAVY TOWARD THE EVENING. ROAD CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE AFTER DARK, AND SOME SLEEP COULD MIX IN, ADDING AN ICY LAYER — SOME SLEET COULD MIX IN, ADDING AN ICY LAYER. TONIGHT, WE COULD SEE TWO TO THREE INCHES PER HOUR FALLING. DON’T BE SURPRISED IF YOU HEAR SOME PING-PONG OFF OF YOUR ROOFS. TOMORROW, PARTLY SUNNY SKIES. IF YOU GET YOUR DRIVEWAY AND WALK SHOVELED, THE SUNSHINE WILL HELP MELT THE SNOW. IT LOOKS LIKE IT STAYS PRETTY COLD THE NEXT COUPLE OF NIGHTS. HERE IS A LOOK AT YOUR CURRENT TEMPERATURES. LOTS OF 20’S ON THE MAP, SETTING THE STAGE FOR THAT SNOW TO MOVE IN. THE WIND WILL BE BREEZY TODAY. NOTHING TOO SIGNIFICANT, BUT THE WIND DOES PICK UP TONIGHT ALONG WITH THE HEAVIER SNOW RATES. THIS IS GOING TO BE A HEAVY WET SNOW. POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE. NOT EXPECTING WIDESPREAD OUTAGES, BUT IT IS A POSSIBILITY. THERE IS A LOOK AT SUPER DOPPLER 8. HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHEAST FINALLY IN THAT COLD AIR. LOW PRESSURE SLIDING UP THE EAST COAST. LET’S GO TO TIFFANY WITH THE PREDICTOR. TIFFANY: WE HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU, THINGS ARE GOING TO GO DOWNHILL THIS AFTERNOON. THE SNOW STARTS TO PUSH INTO OUR SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITIES. 10:00, 11:00, GETTYSBURG INTO CARLISLE, AND CHAMBERSBURG OVERSPREADING THE REGION. IT WILL START OFF LIGHT AT FIRST AND START TO BECOME HEAVY AS WE GET INTO THE EVENING COMMUTE. YOU MAY WANT TO MAKE IT A HALF DAY IF YOU CAN. BY 5:00, YOU CAN SEE THAT SLEET TO OUR SOUTH, BUT IT WILL MOVE NORTHWARD AND COULD IMPACT ANYONE AROUND 81. THAT WILL CUT DOWN ON OVERALL TOTALS. THAT IS WHY WE EXPECT THE HIGHEST SNOW TOTALS TO BE NORTH OF THE I-81 CORRIDOR. SNOW TAPERS OFF BY TOMORROW MORNING. HOW MUCH SNOW CAN YOU EXPECT IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD? SIX TO 10 INCHES WERE THAT SLEET MIXES IN. THE BEST CHANCES FOR THAT WILL BE SOUTH OF 30. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF PORTIONS OF YORK AND LANCASTER COUNTY. 10 TO 14 FOR YORK AND GETTYSBURG. THE HIGHEST TOTALS, 14 TO 20 INCHES AROUND THE HARRISBURG AREA. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF YOU SAW HIGHER TOTALS OUT OF THE SYSTEM. — OUT OF THIS SYSTEM. THINGS SHOULD IMPROVE TOMORROW AFTERNOON.
